Okay so I chose this book out of the five that the Book of the Month club sent me. This, because it’s a thriller, mystery book and you know how much I am a sucker for those stories. To be honest though I was really worried that I’ll end up not being amazed by this one because I’ve read too much crime/thrillers in the past that it turned me into a very hard to please woman. lol. Fortunately though this book really had it in for me.
So this is about a couple who partied next door and leave their 6 month old baby alone in the house, they came home and tadaaa the baby is gone! First of all, I don’t know about you – but the fact that they left the baby all alone really bugged me big time. Like COME ON, ARE YOU FOR REAL?! So yeah, there’s already a substance of character annoyance from the very first chapter of this book. But the good thing about that is it is the kind of irritability that will drive you to read about them more and not the other way around. I am a VERY easily annoyed person and for these characters to be tolerable for ME – well, that’s something. 😂
What I absolutely loved about this is that it knows how to grip readers until the very end. I read this very late a few nights ago and it’s the first thing I held on to when I woke up in the morning. It’s like I can’t bear not knowing SOONER who the culprit is.
Also, I am next level crazy, so imagine my delight when I keep on finding out the different twists this one had in it’s entirety. Man, it’s just CRAY! It had a few moments though were I felt that the way the story goes was a little predictable. It was crazy but at the same time there were a handful of moments that doesn’t quite do justice to the whole wild of an idea that it kinda falls off bland. Well, that’s a way to put it up. 😀
I don’t want to say much because this is obviously best experienced when you have totally no clue about it at all (as for all the mystery books).
I’d highly recommend this! It’s a debut novel and I can’t wait to read more from this author. Hopefully she’ll come up with just as good or even better ones!
Till next read!
