DISCLAIMER: Might contain spoilers from previous Harry Potter books and spoilers from this book as well. It’s really hard not to, you know. 🙈

In all honestly, I don’t think I will ever rate a Harry Potter book less than 4 stars. I mean really, just the writing style itself – I love how it picks up and starts a new book and how it’s never boring and annoying. Every moment counts and every freakin’ event is foreseen. These books are just marvelous and really deserved all the hype.

So okay, this is the fifth book to the Harry Potter installment and it started off with Dudley being attacked by the Dementors near Privet Drive, and frankly speaking, who cares? Haha kidding, anyway, as the fourth book ended where Diggory died and Voldemort is proven to be really back, Harry is thinking that there is something going on in the wizarding world that he is not aware of. So a lot of thing happens – his threatened expulsion because he used magic when they were attacked by the Dementors, the introduction to the member of the Order of the Phoenix, whose sole purpose is to stop Lord Voldemort and his death eaters from spreading the evil in the wizarding world, Harry being at his godfather’s house at Number Twelve Grimmauld Place, Harry not being a prefect, instead Ron was appointed as one, Dumbledore ignoring Harry every chance he gets and so on.

I loved Luna Lovegood from the movie and I am so excited to read about her in this book. She remained the eccentric and odd girl i used to remember and as always I am loving her carefree attitude. Another character that was introduced in this book is the incredibly evil b*tch (sorry) Dolores Umbridge.anigif_optimized-29437-1420775279-15 Oh God I hate her! Super do! Loathe her! She was the epitome of evilness. Haha, I don’t even hate Voldemort but this insect?! Oh my god. Anyway, Ms. Rowling did a pretty effective job placing this son of a cockroach character because she was really effective at being bad. Really!

So okay, I hate Percy Weasly from the last installment, but in this book? God he was worst! I don’t know where his ambition will lead him into. I just hope he will wake up and come back to his senses. He is the only Weasley that i hate – because well, he is f****** (sorry again) hate-able.

I feel soooooo sorry for Sirius in this book because he cannot do anything to prove that he can do something valuable to the Order. He was just stuck in his old home with his ungrateful elf Kreacher. I love that part where they went to the train station to bring the kids and he was standing in Harry’s shoulders in a dog form. I was imagining it and kept on laughing ’cause it was really cute! I was kinda annoyed at Hermione for being so vocal about the miserable standing of Sirius – telling Harry that Sirius would want for Harry to get expelled so that he’ll have a companion in his gloomy house. That was really insensitive of Hermione to be honest. As always, I love how Ron remained calm and collected and even innocently funny in the midst of all this happenings.

Anyway, being Umbridge as the new Defense against the Dark arts teacher and they were never allowed to practice anything hands on, I love how they got this idea of founding a group wherein Harry will teach them some counter spells that he was very good at and those that he experience when he faced Voldemort during the previous years. I particularly loved the name that Ginny gave it: Dumbledore’s Army. Also since Umbridge has been making a lot of new rules to the school it was really nice to read about their challenges and accomplishments within the group.

This book finally, highlighted love story of Harry and Cho. Although I don’t really like Cho tbh, haha. She was really a pain in the… brain, yes in the brain. LOL. I am a girl but it was really hard for me to understand her. Thank God for Hermione who clearly explains what this girl is coming from.

A lot happened again, the DA being reported, Dumbledore left Hogwarts and was wanted by the Ministry, Umbridge being the new Headmaster, the attack on Mr. Weasley, Harry’s reoccurring dream as a snake, Neville’s parents, Harry’s lessons of Occlumency with Snape, Harry having a glimpse of Snape’s worst memory that involves his young father and godfather. And can I just say, young Sirius is really a proper bae?!😍 762170f16388f554203b7572875c07ef

Okay, enough of swooning. I love McGonnagal in this book when she always fought with Umbridge – especially on that part when Harry opened up that he wanted to be an Auror and Umbridge was strongly contradicting it. And there is a matter of passing their O.W.L.S and Umbridge sacking teacher in Hogwarts that she doesn’t really like, like Trewlaney and Hagrid. I love that part where they wanted to arrest Hagrid and he showed them that he is not that easy to break down, poor McGonnagal was hurt in the process though.

Anyway, I understand Harry’s hate for Snape but I was really annoyed too that he does not give his best to practice Occlumency, it felt like he really wanted to get to that room in the Ministry to get what Voldemort wanted. I also had a really bad feeling about that moment where he saw Sirius being in grave danger..

And so you know what happened next….. Oh my.. the feels, I can’t…….. At that time I read it, it didn’t really sink in to me. But after the denial you know how painful it was reading Harry’s grief. It was just really heartbreaking. 💔💔💔💔💔💔

And omg mind blown on the Lost prophecy. Simply brilliant. I love how everything made sense now! I was really still in doubt as to what was so special about Harry and the prophecy answered all of it.

The one with the power to vanquish the Dark Lord approaches… born to those who have thrice defied him, born as the seventh month dies… and the Dark Lord will mark him as his equal, but he will have power the Dark Lord knows not… and either must die at the hand of the other for neither can live while the other survives… the one with the power to vanquish the Dark Lord will be born as the seventh month dies….

It could have been Neville but as Dumbledore says, Voldemort chose Harry, he marked Harry as his equal when he chose to go to Harry and attempted to kill him instead of baby Neville. So freakin genius JK Rowling has done it again. And what’s surprising even in the one who made this prophecy was no other than Trelawney herself. So with all that has happened – Dumbledore defeating all the death eaters and sent to Azkaban and even facing Voldemort himself –  all this happened in the Ministry so that even Fudge himself had no means of denying that the Dark Lord is really back, the second war has really began and I cannot wait what will happen next after this…

Truly a spectacular read! Love every bit of it!
